Got a call from the shop today. I'm going to first breath a big sigh of relief, because I really want my car back.

Above is a gif of how the MDS system deactivates cylinders. The hydraulic lifters are either full of fluid allowing the pushrod to move, or empty of fluid, preventing the pushrod of moving.

They told me that the exhaust valve is opening for the first few revolutions, but then is remaining closed (hence the motor stalls very quickly).

Both heads are going to be removed from the engine, and new MDS lifters will be installed on cylinders 1, 4, 6 and 7, but I keep reading a lot of conflicting info as to which cylinders are the MDS ones. Come on mopar people.

In theory, the car will have heads removed, be cleaned up, new head gaskets on both sides, new valve cover gaskets, an oil change, and if the grand total is less than what I'm expecting, I'll have them order and install a Wavetrac rear differential in the hopes of removing the goddamn noise.

I think I'll have them also try and source a full set of Charger PI steelies for me. They're going to look at the exhaust, but it's not going to be done just yet. Looking at side exit, custom exhaust with high flow cats, and a less restrictive muffler in a full stainless setup.

good luck! And that exhaust will sound amazing. I want to do that to my charger as soon as I scrounge up some extra funds.

The initial cost that I was bracing for is still much higher than the number I was told. Things are looking up.

For your car, knock the resonators off and get some blastin' bobs exhaust tips. That'll liven it up. I'm also potentially moving up to a full 2.5" setup.

The MDS is what makes this car affordable to me. Averaging 20+ MPG is a necessity.

I wont be doing any name brand exhaust, it's going to be a full custom setup from front to side exit.

True, mine is a 2nd car so I don't care as much. 20 is about all I can do on a road trip. Usually more like 15-17.

Very nice! Duel side exit or just one side?

This is a car for sale on the LX forums, but if you look at the side skirts that are on the car, that rear vent is the location I want the side exit, but it will need to still clear road hazards because this is a daily driver, not a garage/show queen.

Oh man, I got some ugly news a couple hours ago. It'll be a few days before I get into anything on the motor.

Those are the resonator delete options you could look at. None are really expensive, and pretty easy to install yourself. As far as exhausts go, this is a pretty cheap option.
